New Version of the Ultio: 880HD

I see that they have release a new version of the Ultio. They have added PVR functions to the box and kept the price the same. While the PVR is only analog and not HD, its a great improvement.

I am curious to hear about the PVR interface. How functional is it?

They have also added the wireless-N dongle and 2T drives are now available.

wow

Heard from an old friend today. We used to play Earth and beyond. I had written an utility and several macros for the game.

Unfortunately that was over 5 years ago and back when I still had a computer on the dark side (running winblows). Since then I have gone 100% Linux. I have always run Linux since the days before distributions when you had to grab bits and pieces from all over the net.

I'm hoping I can resurect an old harddrive that had my winblows NT installed. Need to dig up some old source code.

Added a new forum for Game Talk.

Mythtv 0.22 is released.

After about 1 1/2 years a new version of MythTV is out. Added support for Hauppauge HD-PVR line. I have 2 of these usb hardware mp4 recorders. My ultimate goal for the Mvix Ultio is to be able to run a myth frontend but w/o the REALTEK SDK this is going to be a tough row to hoe.

new forum topic

Added a forum for tips and tricks.

New post for nfs mounting content is here

I have also added more system internals info here and here

Internals

By installing the samba module, the internal hard drive is shared out to your network. This also has the added benefit of enabling telnet to the box. I have some initial system info available here.

Mvix Ultio

Received my new Mvix Ultio (HD-800) box. Very impressive!!!

Initially I was drawn to this box because of the price (only $169), HD output and the promise of firmware source. Unfortunately, they cannot release the REALTEK sdk, so that part is not true. However, the unit is hackable :)

I will be blogging my hacking experiences here.
